Why This Black Man Refuses to Vote for Kamala Harris
Choose Wisely Because The Future of Democracy Depends On It
Obama looked out at the audience, — something wasn’t clicking like before. “I’ve been hearing from the campaigns, from folks in the community,” he said. “The energy, the turnout — it’s not the same as when I ran.” And he was right. It is different this time.
What bothered him more was who seemed to be checking out the most: the brothers. “It’s hitting me hardest with you all,” he said, his voice cutting through the space.
Some were even talking about voting for Trump or not voting at all. He couldn’t hold back on that. “And you’re seriously thinking of sitting this one out?” He leaned in, almost like he was talking to each of us, Black men, personally.
“It makes me wonder — maybe it’s just that you’re not feeling the idea of a woman in charge. And now you’re finding other reasons to justify it.”
Obama didn’t mince words. “The women in our lives have been holding us down this whole time. Why can’t we have their backs now?”
Across social media, people are talking. And they’re not holding back. Some are pushing back hard against Obama’s words, saying his approach misses the mark.
